ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a few exercises for experiential learning in the classroom to enhance student's experience of the global business environment along with a brief overview of key concepts in international business. The exercise defining an International Company can be a good introduction to the topic of international business and can be used to help one summarize what learned about international companies. The purpose of Trade Considerations is to examine trade agreements between and among countries, given certain cultural characteristics. The Expatriate Assignment and Repatriation is to demonstrate many of the complex issues that arise when choosing parent country nationals (PCNs) to send to other countries. The Environmental Concerns and Advocacy is to demonstrate an international strategic decision that involves more developed and poorer countries and that is influenced by ethical considerations. The Child Labor and International Managers give students an opportunity to consider how they would feel if their company operated in a country where child labor was common.
