ABSTRACT

Reports of the British Gambling Prevalence Survey and the complementary qualitative study, summarised here in Chapters 5 and 6, came out in mid-2000 and early 2001 respectively. They were rapidly followed in mid-2001 by the much-anticipated report of the government's Gambling Review Body (GRB, 2001). In this chapter we summarise the recommendations of the GRB report and the immediate response in the British press, and consider its likely implications for the future of gambling in Britain.
