Since the development of the Human Reliability Management System (HRMS; Kirwan and James, 1989), the system has been used on a number of safety case assessments for new plant. This paper documents the experience gained in using this in-depth approach in terms of the following criteria:

- utility in error reduction

- accuracy of derived HEPs

- resources efficiency

- difficulties and solutions in error representation
