ABSTRACT

Introduction An important aspect of continuing professional development (CPD) for general practitioners (GPs) is the opportunity to share knowledge and learn together.1 Recent developments in information and communication technology (ICT) have increased these opportunities, enabling groups of widely dispersed individuals to form online learning networks.2 There is current interest in the National Health Service (NHS) for both the use of online learning and networks for CPD.3,4 At the same time there has been investment in the supporting ICT infrastructure.5 However, there has been little development of online learning networks for CPD within the NHS.
