ABSTRACT
In this study, we conducted a series of vertical loading tests of a large scale rubble rock foundation. In the loading test, contact forces between the rubble rocks and the bottom slab of a caisson, were recorded. Based on the test results, we report some of the characteristics of force support systems of rubble rock foundations and the effects of the roughness of the foundation surface on the force systems.
