ABSTRACT
In Chapter 2, we saw that life has existed on our planet for a long time before we humans ever appeared. We learned the three eras that are so evident in the geological record. In this chapter, we will discuss how the Mesozoic era ended and transitioned into the Cenozoic. The cause of the K/T Extinction is of great scientific interest and it has been extensively explored due to the enormous controversy generated between the meteor
impact crowd and the volcanism crowd. We also examine the evolutionary trail of mammals as they became dominant. We are following a fossil trail, which is gradually getting ever closer to humans and their story.
