ABSTRACT
Formulation of Problem: Determine the well gravel pack sizes for the two aquifers represented with the grain size curves shown in Figure 15.1. The wells tapping the aquifers
have the same outside screen diameter of 273 mm (10 3/4 in.). The diameter of the boreholes
in their screen sections is also the same-445 mm (17 1/2 in.). Note that the diameter of the
borehole corresponds to the diameter of the drilling bit (drilling diameter), which is one of the
main criteria for the well design.
