ABSTRACT
In the linear elastic fracture mechanics (LEFM) approach for characterizing fatigue crack growth, the rate of crack growth per cycle, da/dN, is correlated with the cyclic stress intensity parameter, ΔK [1–5]. These references also include test methods, fatigue crack growth models, and crack growth under variable amplitude loading in considerable detail. It is assumed that the reader is familiar with the topic at this basic level.
