Newspaper news workers remain committed to feeding a news beast that is bigger and more demanding than ever. John had always embraced the notion of multimedia journalism. In part, assembly-line journalism fulfils the audience demands, but it is unfulfilling to the newsroom producer. The United States has become the home of the work martyr workers who take few vacation days, come to work sick, and take pride in being seen at their desks. The American Institute of Stress lists a variety of reasons for workplace stress, but 'workload' tops the list at 46 percent. The referee, Bill Spooner, filed a defamation law suit against the Associated Press and the AP reporter, Jon Krawczynski. Chris' frustrations are not unfamiliar to long-time working newspaper journalists. In more than a decade of researching newsrooms and news workers, role overload has been a primary contributor to burnout and job dissatisfaction.
