ABSTRACT

This chapter describes a set of processes and outcomes facilitated through a 325T project to support ongoing renewal within a long-standing collaborative teacher education program at the University of Colorado Denver. Project implementation occurred within a context marked by multiple, concurrent factors for change at the national, state, and university levels. Three primary renewal tasks were selected to generate data and inform the necessary programmatic changes. The tasks included in-depth study of the existing program in light of new national and state teacher education standards, as well as mandates for P–12 educators and teacher educators; an updated scholarly review of teacher education literature on the evolving knowledge base of teacher education overall, including valued elements of the original inclusive integrated program; and, 6 months of collaboration with faculty from inside the School of Education and coordinators and directors of special education in the Denver metropolitan area.
