ABSTRACT

The project E4 Stockholm Bypass governed by The Swedish transport Administration as client, consists of more than 50 kilometers of tunnel. And the project are now up and running in a highly intensified phase of construction through drilling and blasting as production-method with several different contractors involved.

One of the main issues during the construction-phases of a tunnel, especially as many upcoming tunnel projects tend to be of a very long and deep nature, is to always have a solid control point network up to date, not only above ground, but all the way underground towards the face of the tunnels, all in order to make it possible for the contractors to fulfil all their works inside the required tolerances and achieve breakthroughs in the right tolerances stipulated by the client.

This abstract will describe the clients work in a general view, independently by the different type of long and deep tunnel projects and also as a case-study in detail of the clients work to establish and create a stringent and common set of requirements and conditions in the specific project E4 Stockholm Bypass, governed by The Swedish Transport Administration as client.
