ABSTRACT

The first epilogue, of two, looks at the operations of the Soleil’s administration, the relations with the public, and the growing number of companies influenced by the work of the Théâtre du Soleil, notably the Afghan theatre company Aftaab, which is now integrated into the Soleil itself. This epilogue includes a passionate letter from Mnouchkine, their “godmother,” to the students at one of Paris’s main theatre schools (ENSATT). In it, she encourages them to be inventive and on time, generous in acting but also in listening, and ready to form a community that functions like a worksite for a better world.
