ABSTRACT

Within the research project “Flood risk analysis using 3D city models (FloRiCiMo)” a new approach for assessing urban flood risk was developed, based on the idea of interlinking semantic 3D city models (“digital twins”) with 2D and 3D hydronumeric solvers. Beside project achievements like the identification of data and quality requirements for digital 3D city models and the development of a user-friendly, web-based workflow for the semi-automated generation of the hydronumeric models, innovative visualization techniques and advanced, interactive risk analysis tools were developed in order to raise flood risk awareness of inhabitants living in flood prone urban regions. The general FloRiCiMo-approach and selected results are explained on the example of a pilot study that was conducted for the City of Dresden, Germany.
