ABSTRACT

A series of examples follow that illustrates ways inferential management has been applied to the provision of medical care and services. The four stages of the Model for Inferential Evaluation have been considered in each example:

Objectives evaluated (or the intent of evaluation) have been specified in each case

The status of the environment or targeted population has been preassessed and defined by quantifiable targeted measures

An evaluative method has been selected to measure outcomes and reflect the effects that the service or program will have on standards of targeted services, financial results, and/or groups of patients

Quantifiable results (achievements) have been determined and illustrated as conclusions leading to recommendations for improvement, expansion, and/or other changes
