ABSTRACT
Policy should be written by a multi-disciplinary team to obtain each group's buy-in. It is essential for companies to have an approved written workplace violence prevention policy in place. It will be the foundation for threat management program. When creating policy for the first time, be prepared for some pushback from those who might not understand the importance of this program. The policy should be approved by company's chief security officer or someone who has the authority to mandate these requirements throughout company. Each company's policy should be tailored to the company's organizational structure. Policy should be in writing and should be reviewed and updated regularly. It should be communicated to employees so that they know company has a policy and what their responsibilities are for recognizing and reporting incidents.
