ABSTRACT
The International Telecommunication Union (IT) is the international body responsible for international frequency allocations, worldwide telecommunications standards, and telecommunication development activities. At this writing, 185 countries were members of the ITU. The broad functions of the ITU are the regulation, coordination, and development of international telecommunications. The U.S. is an active member of the ITU and its work is considered critical to the interest of the United States.
