ABSTRACT

This chapter provides evidence of statistical relationships in performance but this evidence is not sufficiently robust to be considered as statistically significant. The statistical evidence however suggests that the three sectors considered are different in nature. In particular it suggests that the water industry is significantly different from the food retailing and manufacturing sectors, which can arguably be treated as one sector due to their similarities. Due to the small samples in the three industry sectors under analysis, it must be accepted that statistical analysis which leads to clear and robust results cannot be expected. In order to consider the nature of the changed interpretation of organisational performance, and the consequent reporting of that performance, under a postmodern analysis it is first necessary to consider the nature of postmodernity itself.
