ABSTRACT
This chapter closes the book by drawing together several key themes. We first take stock of where PCE is situated now in the overall picture of UK education, and conclude that the second decade of the twenty-first century is going to be a momentous time for the sector. We gaze into two possible futures for PCE, one grey and gloomy, and one positive and energising, and make a plea for steps to be taken to leave the grey behind and head for the positive. The book closes with a final call to all teachers in PCE to work together towards that more positive future, and the final ‘out of the deep end test’ just to make sure you are now able to swim confidently off towards the sun setting on the horizon.
