ABSTRACT

System leadership has been introduced as an effective model for achieving sustainability. The first three chapters of this text covered the introduction to system leadership, systems thinking, the characteristics and core competencies of system leadership, and why this leadership model is appropriate for sustainability. The chapters that followed described how to develop system leadership for sustainability and the role and applicability of system leadership for business, academia, government, nonprofit and NGO, and individual-level sustainability. Several chapters included personal interviews with sustainability system leaders or case studies related to sustainability system leadership. This chapter summarizes the key concepts and themes of the preceding chapters and offers future trends, research opportunities, and recommendations.
