Convenient as well as matter of fact loom can provide an effort or contribution for determining to analyse the genotoxic activity of substances or molecules which will dole out as a practical and efficient tool for the researchers in the environmental mutagenesis and DNA repair fields. This chapter focuses on the assays for determination of genotoxicity according to the recommendations of the OECD guidelines for the testing of chemicals.
This chapter, thus, encompasses additional useful assays, such as gene mutation assays, the comet assay in diverse species and their applications, as well as the SMART assays. These protocols and assays provide important in-vitro and in-vivo information regarding the repair activity, along with the modern applications to study DNA damage in humans, as well as in cell cultures and animal models.
