ABSTRACT
Traditionally geography teachers have taught about planning, environmental issues and global citizenship. They have raised awareness, developed attitudes and encouraged responsible behaviour. With Curriculum 2000 the part played by geographers in citizenship education is acknowledged, and geographers are well placed to take on the whole of the citizenship curriculum. When geographers deliver Citizenship, it will need to be explicit in order to satisfy Ofsted.
