ABSTRACT

The European Strategic Plan for the Environment promotes policies of sustainable development through the encouragement of rural tourism, based on the utilization and management of natural and cultural resources. As a member of the European Union, Spain has the opportunity to develop a geotourism market based on its diverse geology, especially in areas declared as Protected Natural Spaces. With this vision there are numerous geological features that spark a tourist interest in Spanish territory, especially in the karstic, volcanic and mining areas.
