ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the author cover the digital transformation opportunity before us. Authors reviewed the long-term implications of the COVID-19 pandemic on how healthcare will be accessed and delivered in future. They consider the gap between current capabilities and those that healthcare enterprises need to invest in. Most organizations choose vendor relationships to advance their Information technology and digital health agendas. There is an unprecedented innovation opportunity in the digital transformation of healthcare and there is also a sense of urgency in moving toward a digital future, given the competitive environment, regulatory pressures, and the changing reimbursement models. The price tag attached to digital transformation can run into hundreds of millions of dollars for a large health system. Leading health systems are innovating with health care delivery models and pricing/contracting models and are using technology to enable their digital transformation.
