ABSTRACT
This chapter asks the patient to consider his/her relationship with change. It reflects on patients' anorexia and also on his/her non-anorexic parts. This is because recovery from anorexia first involves facing patients' anorexia 'head on' and getting to know it. The chapter also asks patient to think about his/her relationship with anorexia, both what it offers patient right now and also what it takes away. It also explains how the patient picture a future for his/herself both with and without anorexia. The chapter ends with helping patient to consider his/her core principles. People who have recovered from anorexia often tell us that anorexia came at a time in their lives when things were tough. Some people describe to us times of real hardship; of loss of loved ones, of relationship stress, of educational demands.
