ABSTRACT

This chapter describes a process for analyzing data at the district level. Data analysis in districts may be approached in many ways, and the effectiveness of district and school processes may be measured in many ways. Data analysis is very logical. The School Portfolio is a framework for continuous school improvement. A district defines its destination through its vision, goals, and standards. The district’s destination falls under the umbrella of the state vision, goals, and standards; and, of course, the federal vision, goals, and mandates. Continuous Improvement and Evaluation are required to assess the alignment of all parts of the system to the vision and the results the learning organization is getting on an ongoing basis. Districts that are not gathering, analyzing, and using comprehensive data in purposeful ways need to transform their thinking about data and start gathering, analyzing, and using data purposefully.
