ABSTRACT

Alumnae of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences represented more than two thirds of surveyed affiliates of Bryn Mawr’s graduate schools. Nearly 20% of all earning only a master’s-level degree at Bryn Mawr received another graduate degree elsewhere. Forty-three percent of the graduate schools’ alumnae/i reported they held paid jobs while graduate students at Bryn Mawr. The largest fraction in any single activity listed the Student Association in the Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research. Sixty-one percent of the graduate schools’ alumnae/i reported at least one fellowship or grant held at Bryn Mawr; for students affiliated after 1960, 71.1 %. Graduate school affiliates were more likely than undergraduate respondents as a whole to have reported paid full- or part-time work. In comparison with former undergraduates holding graduate degrees elsewhere, however, graduate school affiliates were a little less likely to have reported paid jobs.
