ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the author second reason for agreeing to be a Regional Coordinator for INFUSA emerges from her present role as co-creator and director of Pigeon Hill Bruideen/Peacemaking Centre. This alternative learning/healing centre offers workshops, retreats and resources at the grassroots which bridge the processes of individual conscientization and social change. Participation in one’s own process of healing is a necessary step to involvement in the social analysis, creative conflict resolution, positive structural change and cultural transformation required for true participatory democracy. The Province of Quebec itself is involved in similar reflection and action in its relationship to Canada. It feels very appropriate that our small centre, housed in the village’s old country store, is a part of strengthening networks of people of goodwill who long to work towards social change.
