ABSTRACT

The field of nanotechnology has emerged as a cutting-edge technology, which involves the participation of various branches of science such as physics, chemistry, biology and many more. Green synthesis is a cost-effective and environmentally safe method. Green synthesis of nanoparticles is basically free from any harmful by-products. Nanoparticles produced in environment-friendly synthesis procedures are gaining more and more acknowledgment in various research fields. In our chapter, we try to brief the prodigious potential of marine organisms in nanobiotechnology. The marine realm is a phenomenal biodiversity of marine microorganisms like bacteria, fungi, actinobacteria and yeasts, which are highly capable of synthesizing different metallic nanoparticles because of their ability to survive in extreme environmental conditions. Additionally, the marine fauna is also involved in the production with a variety of unique applications. It’s interesting to note how the marine-mediated nanoparticles are potent to inhibit multidrug resistant strains to pests and insects in the agricultural field to blocking human cancer. The chapter will give you an insight of what the marine realm contributes to nanobiotechnology.
