ABSTRACT

Latin America and the Caribbean are recovering their economic dynamism after the region’s economic activity shrank in 2009, by 1.9 percent, due to the global financial crisis. The regional GDP is expected to have expanded by 5 percent in 2010, being one of the most dynamic regions in the world, together with the emerging economies of Asia (ECLAC previsions). In contrast, Western Union GDP will have expanded only around 1 percent during this year.
