ABSTRACT

This chapter analyzes a spectacular rap text written in 'Guarani', 'Portuguese' and 'Castellano' on the borderland, the Triple Frontier of Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay. It discusses the issue of text spectacularity, considering 'language' as performative, with diverse indexicalities and emphasizes the relevance of this kind of sociolinguistic research. The chapter provides an analysis of some of Group Paye's rap lyrics, focusing on the indexical cues which invoke the particular "histories of meanings" mobilized by transidiomatic indexical resources. The Triple Frontier between Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay is an area of historical conflicts. Resistant gnosis is a way of fracturing hegemonic perspectives in a 'place' where they are more easily noticed because deterritorialization, flux, migration, in-betweeness, disidentification, transidiomaticity, ambiguity and, in the last analysis, resistance are experienced under the skin, so to speak. The analysis of text spectacularity needs to be justified in relation to sociolinguistic research methodology.
