ABSTRACT
Giraut de Bomeil loved a lady from Gascogne whose name was Lady Alamanda d’Estanc. 1 This lady was highly esteemed for her wit, worth and beauty; and she permitted the beseechments and courting of Sir Giraut because of the way he furthered her reputation for merit and honor, and because of the good songs he composed about her, songs in which she found great delight, for she knew how to interpret them.
