ABSTRACT

Sam had a host of other problems. Oral and esophageal thrush coated his tongue and palate so severely that he could hardly swallow. He had multiple prescriptions for antifungals, but he insisted they did not help and refused to take them. His physician arranged for him to have intravenous infusions of amphoteracin B in the outpatient clinic. While the coordination of transportation and personal preparation was initially difficult, it was quickly recognized as a positive change.
