The brain does have a special significance for consciousness. The better readers understand it, the firmer becomes their idea that it deserves to be thought of as the headquarters of the self. On account of the distinction that readers make between the brain and the mind, they have the choice of entering into the headquarters of the self. Perhaps it will serve reader purpose best to think of the brain as the structural headquarters and the mind as the functional focus of the self. Since there is special need in reader attempt to live with ourselves to understand and cooperate with the headquarters of the ego, both as the center of control of the structure and as the function of personality, reader need to make full use of the approaches to self knowledge. The water slowly pushes ahead; leaving a groove in the mud which the current as it continues to flow deepens.
