ABSTRACT

Management team oedema is a rather common disease. The initial symptoms appear when the management team has more than seven members. If the group size goes over ten, management team oedema becomes a serious problem. Activities slow down; decision-making becomes stiff and going through the agenda only makes a scratch on the surface. The right action of a management team is based on people acting in the right way. The right people are those who want to grow to their real size as human beings without delay. Membership of a management team gives them another type of "director's hat” that of the role of management team member. This hat contains the obligation to produce collective inspiration and energy even in colleagues. In social psychology the concept of role is connected to interaction. The role of a strategist requires many kinds of skills in order to keep the journey advancing on to the stars.
