ABSTRACT

People are the most important resources when developing games. Regardless of how much funding, publisher support, or fan support one have, the game can’t get made without a team. There are a lot of ways to find talent, but be open-minded about what’s needed. An entry-level person can show a lot of promise, so hiring him or her and investing in training might be worthwhile, especially if the position is hard to fill. People with relevant experience in a non-game-related field can transfer their skills to something in game development. Writing a job description is the first step in the hiring process. It outlines the expectations and responsibilities for the role. This includes what the day-to day work entails, how this role interacts with other people and departments, and what the key goals are for the position.
