ABSTRACT
The many coins struck under the rulers of the Graeco-Bactrian and Indo-Greek kingdoms are one of the best primary sources for their history, but the coins have often been put to dubious use in historical reconstructions. This chapter reviews the numismatic evidence for the kingdoms and discusses the ways in which coins can contribute in a more soundly based way to our understanding of their history.
