ABSTRACT

An ethical reflection on brevity may help people to establish the temporal register of human affairs. The entire history of humanity is filled with considerations of the brevity of life. Like a sort of physiological manifestation of brevity, fatigue is part of the fabric of the lives and is a part of all of people's activities. All actions have a component of fatigue. This chapter discusses the anthropological aspect of fatigue. The purpose of what is human is not an action that ends in perfection and fulfillment, but rather an event that stands in the way in terms of exhaustion or a stroke of fate: such as a devastating historical event, fatigue or obstacles. Furthermore, the chapter gives an example from music that will help people to look at the issue of human endings from a different point of view, making it possible to understand them in two different ways: as perfection and as interruptions.
