ABSTRACT

The host countries and the entities/agencies who make the decisions to invest at a macroproject level have a significant and direct influence on demand for macroprojects as a function of their responsibility for national development plans and industrial development sectoral strategies. The nature of the demand for macroprojects by host countries is constantly changing, as host entities themselves are being continuously trained and enriched by their macroproject activities and partnerships. Income level is commonly regarded as an important indicator of level of development. Much progress can be made in advancing the national development goals of a country by means of macroproject-scale initiatives. The host countries which lead in the number of macroprojects within their borders are leaders in the number of design and construction contracts won by local companies. Hosts are continually changing macroproject customers. Their needs are changing as their income and ability to purchase becomes enhanced.
