ABSTRACT

The focus of this chapter is in providing facts, figures and practical information to help a hotel or hotel company understand the issue of human trafficking and how it is relevant to their business. Presented in the form of practical guidance directly aimed at the hotelier, the chapter defines human trafficking, gives key statistics on the nature and prevalence of trafficking, explains what the risks are to a hotel and gives guidance on measures a hotel or hotel company can take to reduce the risk of trafficking affecting their business. It also includes a selection of case studies highlighting best practice from the hotel sector.
