ABSTRACT

The idea of human-like intelligent machines was first expressed in the novel Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, first published in 1818 and still being discussed. With the appearance of advanced computers and robots, the idea of proceeding from artificial intelligence (AI) to artificial general intelligence gained traction and is today a hot subject with ‘true believers’ and also fanatics, together with serious thinkers, writing a lot on the feasibility of creating super intelligent entities and what it may mean for the future of the human species. There are also some scientists who support an AI overlord, also called ‘AI Nanny’, who will take care of humanity and prevent it from destroying itself. A super mind will easily overcome human programming, have goals and perhaps values of its own, and can ignore humanity, displace it or cohabit with it in unforeseeable and probably for inconceivable forms.
