ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the use of hypnosis in patients with terminal cancer diagnosis. It details how hypnosis can open up unconscious learnings, such as what it feels like to be free of symptoms and to see the treatment as a help rather than as some kind of experience that is like subjugation to chemical attacks. The benefits of using hypnosis can range from pain relief and reduction in the side effects of chemotherapy to the prolonging of life and the development within the patient of a sense of calm and peace. The chapter provides specific examples.
