ABSTRACT
Research and development for smart cities has been ongoing for almost a decade now. However, only now its rise can be seen in close relation to the newest developments in information and communication technologies (ICTs) for mobile broadband communication, sensor technologies, machineto-machine (M2M) communication, and efcient data and computing resources.
