The population module uses a multi-state population projection model that includes age, sex, education and labour force participation. The selection of sectors is closely tailored to the Mauritian economy. The model is run together with the population, land use and water modules, and there are some specified pairs of variables that, for realistic scenarios, either must have similar values, or only one of the two can be larger.
