ABSTRACT
This chapter is about parents’ feelings in the time immediately after their baby’s death. Although each parent reacts individually, some reactions do seem to be shared by a great many parents. Many say that at first they were extremely shocked and found it hard to believe what had happened. Many also talk about a particular moment when they faced reality and took in the fact that their baby had died. All parents describe painful, overwhelming emotions, and above all, the pain and sadness of loss.
