ABSTRACT

The earlier contributions to this volume support several conclusions. First, there is no single answer to our central question. How can a scholar1 ensure that his or her finest work will enter practice and make a difference?—There is no agreed way to make an impact. What is more, on the basis of many of the reports made here, it seems likely that much work will pass from view without notice by practitioners, irrespective of the best efforts of the researchers to make it available. In her commentary, Near2 added the further suggestion that it would be malpractice to try to push some of the weaker research onto business.
