ABSTRACT

In the 21st century information technology era, e-learning has become a new trend that receives attention and promotion from domestic and foreign educational institutions. Teaching approaches for digital learning are mainly “synchronous” or “asynchronous” conducted through electronic devices or through the Internet and teaching platform websites. Although it is convenient and fast, but after all it is just a method, a tool, and should be made good use of rather than relied upon. Interactive multimedia materials achieve the effect of learning through animation and games. They not only improve the students’ willingness to learn but also reduce the teachers’ burden of preparing teaching materials. Aside from listening to lectures, students can apply information technology in their study, choose their desired digital materials, and not be limited to traditional fixed curriculum schedule. This way, time can be allocated to enhance or improve learning, practice

1 INTRODUCTION

In traditional teaching activities, student knowledge mainly comes from the instructor; therefore, teachers have always played an important role throughout the learning process. In traditional classroom teaching, content explanation and interaction with students are conducted in a limited time and space. The teacher mainly explains and the students passively listen, having relatively few interaction opportunities with teachers and peers. Also, the traditional basic literacy methods of reading, writing, and arithmetic are insufficient in responding to the needs of the information society. Alongside information technology and widespread network resources, the traditional role of a teacher shifts from being “an imparter of knowledge” to being “a mentor of learning”. Therefore, studentcentered teaching models are very important and urgently necessary (Chou, 2010).
