This chapter explores the experiences of women who have experienced abuse based on interviews conducted by Kelly Henderson as part of her PhD study. It explores the issues that the interviewees experienced in leaving abusive partners, caring for children and being rehoused. It also looks at the experiences of the interviewees in building a new home for themselves and their families. The responses and commentary reflect upon the issues raised in and addressed by the preceding chapters, with a view to moving onto Chapter 10 and some of the initiatives that the domestic abuse and housing sectors have implemented in response. Finally, it brings the voices of women who have experienced abuse to the book – both authors consider this a vital contribution.
