ABSTRACT
For the Leaner Practitioner who may be new to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), it is important to review some basics about ISO standards before understanding the worldwide impact of ISO 13053 for Six Sigma. The Leaner Practitioner can reflect an accurate picture of an organization’s state as well as create viable measurement and tracking systems. The Leaner Practitioner interested in working with ISO 14001 should be familiar with the environmental efforts of the company as well as any compliance issues for that specific industry and/or governmental regulations. For the Leaner Practitioner, working in ISO 9000 or ISO 14000 environments, the Six Sigma standard adds another layer of credibility to process improvement. In the typical Lean Six Sigma project, often the Leaner Practitioner will need to assume several roles. The Leaner Practitioner should remember that all process improvements, best practices, standards, theories and methodologies interact with basic project management principles.
