ABSTRACT

Through research, we can learn more about effective advising practices, and about the

processes through which transformation takes place through the advising. Much can

be learned from language teaching research and also research on counseling. In this

chapter, we make some suggestions for research projects and approaches that match

an advisor’s level of awareness and comfort with the role, i.e. approaches that match an

advisor’s trajectory ( Table 2.4 ). A summary can be seen in Table 4.1 .
