ABSTRACT

Even though today case-based reasoning is applied in a wide range of different areas, there are only few systems which make use of case based techniques for decision making in complex domains such as international conflicts. In this paper, we present a case-based prototype of an intelligent decision-support system for the task of understanding international conflicts. After this, we describe a computational approach for indexing and retrieving conflict cases by using several pieces of explanatory knowledge whereby each describes a particular point of that accounts for the emergence of a conflict.
